With over 48 years of experience assisting companies experiencing financial difficulty, Dan Scouler specializes in interim/crisis management as Chief Restructuring Officer and financial advisory services to companies and their stakeholders. He has extensive experience and has led over one hundred in-court and out-of-court restructurings. Specifically, he played a leading advisory role in the bankruptcies of Contessa Premium Foods, Rhythm & Hues, and Hot Dog on a Stick, all three engagements recognized by peer review awards. His interim management experience includes Chief Restructuring Officer of Arhaus Furniture, TVC, Inc., Wherehouse Entertainment, and Interim CFO of NUI Corp. Other notable assignments include Deak & Co., Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, LTV, Allis Chalmers, Ernst Home Centers, Mercury Finance Company, National Auto Credit, Hechinger Company, AB Dick, Monolith Solar, Carolina Gardens Assisted Living, and numerous private companies.
As an experienced expert witness on insolvency and reorganization matters, Dan Scouler provides expert testimony on a broad range of issues including, date of insolvency, creditors’ motion for the appointment of a Chapter 11 Trustee, reorganization plan feasibility, business plan viability, valuations and the reasonableness of select transactions. His experience in a wide range of assignments has provided him with knowledge and insight into a wide variety of industries including major manufacturing, retail, financing, leasing, media and entertainment, airline, real estate, technology, telecom, distribution, renewable technologies, assisted living and seafood harvesting.

Prior to establishing Scouler, LLC, Dan Scouler was the Principal and Head of Glass Ratner’s NYC Office. Prior to Glass Ratner, Dan was a Managing Director in the Los Angeles office of Alvarez & Marsal. Dan was the founder and CEO of Scouler & Company, a boutique restructuring and crisis management firm that he managed and grew successfully to national prominence from 2004 through 2015. Dan is a seasoned and highly regarded leader in the Restructuring Industry. He was a Senior Managing Director and Founder of FTI Corporate Recovery, a wholly owned subsidiary of FTI Consulting, and the leader of FTI’s interim management practice. He began his restructuring career at Touche Ross, then moved to the Canadian firm of Clarkson Gordon & Co. where he became a partner in 1981. While at Clarkson Gordon, he worked as the Receiver Manager on many of Canada’s largest corporations, including The McCulloch Group and Fishery Products Limited. In 1984 Clarkson Gordon transferred Dan to the New York office of their US affiliate, Arthur Young (now Ernst & Young).
Mr. Scouler holds an honors degree in Business Administration from the University of Western Ontario and is a qualified Canadian Chartered Accountant.
